Lighter, faster, better. That was Trek's goal in creating their best-of-the-best Madone 6.9. Handmade from OCLV2 carbon, the 6.9 is brutally efficient, ultra light and breaks the status quo with a tapered 1.5-inch headtube/fork combo that makes your front end super stiff for scalpel-like steering. Flowing down, the downtube joins with an insanely-stout 90mm-wide bottom bracket. This gives you the stiffest possible platform to launch attacks with every watt of your energy going to road. Perhaps the most ingenious piece on this bike is the integrated seatmast that reduces weight and smooths the road underneath you for sublime comfort. A frameset of this level deserves only the best and you get it with top-of-the-line Bontrager Aeolus carbon aero wheels, Shimano's Tour-winning Dura-Ace components and Bontrager Race XXX Lite stem and bars that add the finishing touches of class.

Introducing OCLV2. Trek took their winningest hand-made OCLV carbon and improved it. They made it lighter, stiffer, faster, stronger and more comfortable. In a word: better. Here are some of the highlights:
The Madone Stepjoint.
The Madone Net Molding.
The Madone Resin Right.
Stepjoint technology is a Trek-exclusive way to bond two carbon structures together perfectly, with no overlap, no excess carbon, and consistent tube wall thickness throughout. That means stronger joints, more consistent ride quality, and a better finish.
Net Molding uses defense/aerospace-grade Hex MC material available only in the US, and only to approved vendors. This Trek proprietary process forms the bottom bracket bearing surface as part of the carbon frame, eliminating heavy bearing cups too.  Trek's Resin Right molding process accurately controls the distribution of resin throughout the carbon fiber material to ensure a consistent structure, eliminating resin pockets or voids. Resin Right keeps the material consistent and gives you the confidence that your frame is flawless, inside and out.
Trek's load-path tube shaping.
Trek's Bontrager Race XXX Lite Carbon fork.  Trek's Ride-Tuned carbon seatmast.
Tube shapes affect comfort, ride quality, frame weight, and aerodynamics. By examining force loads on every inch of a frame, Trek reduces excess material for weight savings and adds it where it's needed for even better handling.

The 6 Series Bontrager Race XXX Lite Carbon fork is shaped from round to oval to achieve road-smoothing frontal compliance, boost lateral cornering stiffness, and to reduce weight. That means a lighter, stronger, better-handling, AND more comfortable ride. Already known for being super light and extremely comfortable, Trek's carbon seatmast has been reshaped and ride-tuned for improved compliance and reduced weight. Now it’s lighter and more comfortable than ever.
The Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon fork.

Bontrager's Race XXX Lite Carbon Fork is the lightest, stiffest and best riding fork yet, thanks to its ingenious steerer, which uses the standard 1 1/8-inch diameter at the top combined with a 1 1/2-inch diameter at the bottom where the fork meets the crown. This reduces the stresses placed on the fork, significantly increases strength and saves weight by reducing the amount of carbon required and eliminating the need for additional reinforcement. Trek's oversize E2 head tube adds strength and stiffness. The result is an unbelievably stiff and super-light front end.

Trek's Madone features a unique bottom bracket (image, right) that's 90mm wide (traditional ones are 68mm wide). This wide bottom bracket lets Trek build the frame with larger tubes for increased power transfer. Plus, the 90mm bottom bracket is machined so that the bearings can be placed directly into the frame (image) saving weight (due to fewer parts), ensuring additional pedaling efficiency and simplifying maintenance and repair.

Instead of a conventional seatpost, Trek's Madone boasts a seatmast (image). Compared to traditional seatposts (image, left) and also modern integrated seatmasts, this engineering masterpiece boosts strength and pedaling efficiency, saves weight, increases compliance a whopping 39% (for maximum comfort), and offers all the adjustability you'll ever need (no cutting required). It lets your Trek fit in a UPS-compatible box for shipping, too!

This chart shows the maximum seat height for each Madone frame size. To determine which is right for you, we recommend measuring the seat height on your current bicycle.
